Skatenigs frontman Phil Owen spoke to the Current recently for our cover story on Ministry’s Al Jourgensen. Owen, a longtime collaborator and friend of Jourgensen’s, explained that Skatenigs was actually birthed out of a need to have an opening band for a Revolting Cocks and Ministry show back in the late ’80s.
Formed in San Marcos, Skatenigs were a part of the pioneering industrial-metal community that would ultimately bring the genre into the mainstream. The fact that this show is happening — and on New Year’s Eve, no less — is actually pretty awesome. If you dig all things industrial and metal, you should definitely be at this one.
$15-$50, Mon Dec. 31, 7pm, Guillotine, 1818 N. Main St.
