Mixing indie folk textures with adult contemporary and Latin pop, Morat have been making noise in the Latin music world since the release of their 2015 single “Mi Nuevo Vicio” with Paulina Rubio, a track that would eventually go platinum and reach No. 1 in digital sales in Spain.
Regardless of their accolades, the band really does make some catchy songs that aren’t overproduced bubblegum pop bullshit. And while, sure, they definitely harness some elements of poppy anthem music, Morat comes across more folksy, indie and singer-songwriter lending to this feeling that they’re not some boy-band put together by record companies.
Accompanied by banjos, three part harmonies and really stellar songwriting, the band is headed to the Aztec for a show on Friday, April 12.
$39-$114, Fri April 12, 7pm, Aztec Theatre, theaztectheatre.com.
