Cowboys Dancehall, a Northwest San Antonio club and music venue that’s hosted anything from country and EDM shows to political rallies has shut down, its owners said in a Friday afternoon Instagram post.

“After more than two decades of music, dancing, and unforgettable memories, it is with heavy hearts that we announce Cowboys Dancehall San Antonio has closed its doors,” the
club’s post said.

The owners blamed ongoing construction around the venue, which makes it difficult to access.

“With completion currently projected around 2028, the prolonged impact of this construction has made it increasingly difficult to sustain operations and plan for the future,” they said.

The owners said they made extensive efforts to find a new path for the business, adding that they aren’t ruling out “another chapter.” Even so, the post suggests a revamp of the club unlikely.

“[W]e want to be transparent: there are currently no plans to reopen and no guarantees of what the future may hold,” they added.
