Remember that time a federal judge in the Rio Grande Valley issued a preliminary injunction against plans to provide temporary legal residency for 5 million undocumented immigrants — a priority of President Barack Obama?
Well, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled today that the injunction stays put while litigation between the federal government and 26 states — led by Texas — that oppose Obama’s immigration-friendly plan plays out in a federal court in Brownsville, The New York Times reported.
According to paper, the appeals court ruled Texas and 25 other states had legal ground to sue and that the administration was unable to prove that the injunction would harm it.
