If Christian nationalist preacher Lance Wallnau ever tires of pretending Donald Trump is carrying out God’s personal to-do list, there’s always work waiting for him at an IMAX.
Because nobody projects quite like this guy.
During a recent appearance on the pro-Trump religious TV program FlashPoint first reported on by the Right Wing Watch blog, the Dallas-area preacher unloaded on Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico, calling the Presbyterian seminarian the “very best of the idiotic cocktail the left tries to put together to reach Christian America.”
Wallnau alleged Talarico is “being groomed” by mysterious left-wing “labs” and inexplicably accused the Austin-area state rep of representing a “progressive Antifa link” that provides “a back door to Al Qaeda” through the Democratic Party.
We’re guessing the Illuminati, lizard people and the Great Pumpkin are also somehow involved.
What apparently sent Wallnau’s MAGA Underoos into maximum bunch mode was Talarico comparing Christian nationalism to other forms of religious extremism.
And that’s rich coming from Wallnau.
After all, this is the schmuck who’s spent years promoting the Seven Mountains Mandate, which urges conservative Christians to gain control over government, education, media, business and other institutions. Wallnau’s own website describes the mission as transforming the “latent potential” of Christianity into “actual power.”
Sounds a little more ambitious than a Wednesday-night Bible study.
Wallnau’s also helped sell evangelicals on Trump by portraying the thrice-married reality-TV star as a modern-day King Cyrus chosen by God.
And when political events don’t go Trump’s way, the pastor has a history of blaming supernatural forces. For example, he attributed both the success of the 2017 Women’s March and Kamala Harris’ forceful 2024 debate performance against Trump to witchcraft. Ooh, spooky.
In other words, the guy warning that Talarico is part of a sinister ideological plot to infiltrate American Christianity is himself a prominent advocate of a movement seeking Christian control over American institutions.
Maybe that explains the panic.
When Wallnau looks at Talarico, he apparently sees a calculating religious partisan using faith to advance an extreme political agenda and remake America according to his ideology.
The reality is this assclown is looking in a mirror.
