The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Department found itself investigating one of its own after an on-duty deputy, who is also running for a county commission seat, radioed dispatch with slurred speech, KXAN reports.
Deputy Fred Ensinger was arrested Friday morning and charged with DWI.
Authorities found a quart-sized vodka bottle that was one-third full and empty bottle of prescription pills in Ensinger’s patrol car, according to KXAN.
He’s since been placed on administrative leave, the Austin-based television station reported.
