Bexar County has fired a sheriff’s deputy arrested twice in 2020 on domestic violence charges, KSAT reports, citing disciplinary records.

The deputy, John Paul Garza, received two termination notices in February from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, according to the TV station.

Garza was arrested in February 2020 and taken into custody on charges he struck his spouse, according to records. He was busted again in December of that year while BCSO was still carrying out a termination process against him.

According to KSAT, Garza hadn’t performed any duties for BCSO since the first arrest and was on unpaid administrative leave.
