A former San Antonio police officer who is accused of raping a woman he arrested in 2013 was shot in the throat last night.
Sandra Diaz allegedly shot her boyfriend Jackie Neal on the 9100 block of Arroyo Hondo near Helotes around 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Neal is facing a charge of sexual assault for the 2013 allegations.
Investigators believe Diaz shot Neal after an argument and authorities say no one else was injured. She is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Neal is in stable condition at University Hospital.
As for the sexual assault charge, Neal is accused of handcuffing a young woman and groping her breasts and then raping her in the back of his patrol car and instructing her to keep quiet about his conduct.
A few years ago, a woman accused Neal of a similar violation, but she didn’t cooperate with police and the case was dropped. Neal also dated an 18-year-old member of the Police Explorer program a few years ago and received a three-day suspension, the San Antonio Current previously reported.
