Wonder what Beto O’Rourke’s doing with that record $38.1 million his campaign raised in the third quarter?

Looks like a ton of it is flowing to Facebook.

The El Paso Democrat has spent almost as much money on Facebook ads for his senate campaign as the next five biggest campaign spenders combined, the Atlantic reported, citing data from Facebook’s Ad Archive Report.

Through October 20, O’Rourke dropped $5.4 million in advertising on the social media platform. Combined, J.B. Pritzker, Kamala Harris, Andrew Cuomo, Claire McCaskill, and Heidi Heitkamp spent about $5.5 million.

O’Rourke’s Republican rival, incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, dished out just $427,000 on Facebook ads.

Most of O’Rourke’s Facebook buys are short videos of the candidate speaking to crowds or direct to the camera, according to the Atlantic, which keeps with the campaign’s focus on viral video and
eschewing of attack ads.
