Brad Simpson, the husband of missing Olmos Park realtor Suzanne Clark Simpson, is facing two new charges as authorities continue to investigate his wife’s disappearance, court records show.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday charged Brad Simpson with tampering or fabricating with physical evidence and possession of a prohibited weapon, both felonies.
The Olmos Park Police Department and the Texas Rangers on Tuesday also arrested James Val Lee Cotter, a business associate of Brad Simpson’s, charging him with tampering with evidence with intent to hinder an investigation.
Authorities allege Cotter hid an AK-47 assault rifle belonging to Brad Simpson behind a wall-mounted television in his home, according to an affidavit.
Simpson’s new charges and Cotter’s arrest are the latest twist in the missing person’s case of Suzanne Clark Simpson, which has grabbed international headlines.
Suzanne Clark Simpson was first reported missing Oct. 7 after failing to pick up the couple’s daughter from school. Brad Simpson, was arrested two days later in Kendall County on charges of family violence and unlawful restraint. He was subsequently transported to Bexar County Jail.
The initial charges against Brad Simpson stem from an alleged argument he had with Suzanne Clark Simpson the night before her disappearance, according to authorities. A neighbor told police the pair were involved in an argument in front of their $1.4 million Olmos Park mansion.
On Tuesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety discontinued an earlier alert stating that Suzanne Clark Simpson might be in imminent danger. Authorities have searched for the missing woman in Olmos Park, off I-10 in Boerne and a landfill on San Antonio’s East Side but have so far failed to find her.
