A new affordable housing complex has opened in North Central San Antonio, offering apartments priced below market rate for qualifying individuals and families.

The new residential community, Vista at Silver Oaks, is located at 13334 Brazil Drive near the intersection of Lockhill-Selma Rd. and N.W. Military Highway.

The complex has 76 two- and three-bedroom apartments as well as on-site business and fitness centers and laundry facilities, according to officials with Opportunity Home, the city’s public housing arm. Rental prices range from $597 to $1,380 for two- and three-bedroom units. All apartments in the complex are reserved for residents with qualified income up to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The city offers an online tool to calculate your AMI.

Residents will also receive a utility allowance to help offset those expenses, Opportunity Home officials said.

Vista at Silver Oaks was developed by Opportunity Home, formerly known as the San Antonio Housing Authority, in collaboration with public and private partners including Atlantic Pacific Companies, OCI Development, the city of San Antonio, PNC Bank and Stellar Bank.

The development is supported by 2022’s $150 million housing bond, which voters approved to develop more affordable residential options in San Antonio.

There are already 44 move-ins at the complex, which is 76% pre-leased, Opportunity Home officials said.
Vista at Silver Oaks has a variety of on-site perks including notary services, tax preparation classes, youth after-school programs, recreational activities and health-and-wellness programming, according to Opportunity Home. The development also is partnering with local nonprofits that provide supportive services including a food pantry and case management services.
