A year after the idea was first proposed, the developers behind San Antonio’s version of the London Eye may have finally found a site to build their 213-foot-tall Ferris wheel.

Florida-based entertainment and attraction company Icon Experiences this week disclosed that it’s looking to acquire and rezone a parking lot across from St. Paul Square entertainment venue, the Express-News reports. The site is at the intersection of Gonzales Street and Hoefgen Avenue.

The parking lot would be transformed into an attraction featuring a supersized “observation wheel” dubbed “Grandisimo,” according to the daily, which would be surrounded by a mini-golf course, arcade games and an event plaza.

City staff this week recommended that City Council approve Icon Experiences’ request to rezone the property.

Last year, Icon Experiences was under contract to buy nearly an acre of land for its proposed Ferris wheel at 902 E. Houston St. last year. However, the Express-News reports the deal was scrapped after Alamo Trust Executive Director Kate Rogers expressed concerns that Grandisimo would obstruct views of the historic Spanish mission.

Developers didn’t mention when the Ferris wheel, which will have a 250-person capacity and feature air-conditioned gondolas, might open, according to the daily.
