San Antonio Independent School District’s Board of Trustees wants community members to help out as it searches for a new superintendent.

SAISD’s board will host a town hall at 6 p.m. Monday to solicit feedback as it works identify leadership qualities and experience the community wants to see in a new superintendent. The leader would take over as the district looks for ways to improve student outcomes while grappling with deficits and shrinking enrollment.

Superintendent Jaime Aquino announced his retirement last month after a 40 career in public education. He will serve through January.

“This is your district, and your voice is the most important part of getting it right,”  SAISD Board President Alicia Sebastian said in an emailed statement.

The district also is seeking input through an online survey, which will remain open through Wednesday, April 29.

The town hall will take place at the SAISD Board Room, 514 W. Quincy St., and also will be available virtually. Those interested in attending virtually must RSVP online.
