A San Antonio Park Police officer was arrested Tuesday on charges he assaulted and injured a family member, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office took officer Rolando Lopez Jr., 36, into custody while he was off-duty, according to SAPD’s statement. The eight-year veteran of the force has since been given administrative duty pending an internal investigation.
Sheriff’s Office officials told KSAT they arrested Lopez after responding to a domestic violence call at around 6 p.m. near the 47000 block of Sahara Valleys in Southeast San Antonio.
A woman at the scene told deputies Lopez assaulted her as they argued while stopped at a traffic light, the TV station reports. She also showed Sheriff’s Office personnel an injury to her face and lip, according to KSAT.
Lopez is the fourth officer arrested this year, according to records made public by SAPD.
