Castroville authorities arrested San Antonio police officer Taylor Thompson in connection with a family assault investigation, SAPD officials said late Wednesday.

Thompson, a five-year veteran of the force assigned to the patrol division, was taken into custody by the Castrovile Police Department for bodily injury-family, according to details shared by department officials. The charge carries a potential penalty of up to one year in county jail and a fine of up to $4,000.

Thompson is on administrative duty while SAPD investigates the charge, according to SAPD’s statement. 

The Current reached out to Castroville Police Department officials for more information but got no immediate response at press time.
