San Antonio police officer Jacob Ryan faces three felony charges of injury to a child related to “off-duty incidents” that occurred last year, department officials said late Tuesday.
Ryan, 32, turned himself in to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday afternoon after the county issued an arrest warrant, according to an SAPD statement. The statement offered no additional details about the allegations that led to the charges.
However, court records obtained by TV station KSAT show Ryan is accused of striking the same child in February, March and June of last year. The officer hit the unidentified juvenile with his hand and “by manner and means unknown,” according to documents cited in the report.
Bexar County jail records show Ryan, a five-year veteran of the force, was released from custody the same day he was arrested, KSAT reports.
SAPD officials said Ryan is on administrative duty and the department is conducting an administrative investigation into his conduct.
