The San Antonio Spurs organization appears to be cracking down on some season ticket holders who try to resell their Finals seats on the secondary market, screenshots of emails circulating online show.

According to Spurs superfan Mark Burnett, who goes by @spurssixthman on Instagram, the team is sending out emails telling season ticket holders who list their Finals tickets on unauthorized sale sites that their memberships are being revoked.

“Tickets associated with your account have been identified in connection to resale activity utilizing unofficial or unauthorized secondary market sites, in violation of the applicable ticketing terms and conditions,” states the email screenshot shared by Burnett.

“Accordingly, your season ticket membership and related ticket privileges are revoked effective immediately, and any deposits paid toward next season, if applicable, will be refunded,” the message continues.

Spurs Sports and Entertainment’s Corporate Communications Associate Manager Lucy Kaneb confirmed the legitimacy of the email.

“We’re focussed on getting authentic tickets into the hands of our fans and strongly encourage fans to only buy from verified marketplaces,” Kaneb said. “Our resale guidelines have been communicated to our members throughout the season and in conjuction with Playoffs and Finals going on sale.”

The crackdown comes as many Spurs fans have expressed shock over the cost of NBA Finals tickets. The team’s matchup with the New York Knicks marks its first trip to the Finals in a dozen years.

Indeed, the cheapest tickets on Ticketmaster as of press time for Game 1 of the Finals at the Frost Bank Center are $959 nosebleeds, and that’s not including taxes or fees.

“That’s rent,” X user @Hasnain1272 commented online about the ticket prices. “I’ll be watching Wemby vs Brunson from my couch.

Even so, local automotive dealer April Ancira had a different outlook on the price of the tickets.

In a lengthy, since-deleted tweet, Ancira — who has season box tickets priced at $1,500 per game — suggested folks without season tickets aren’t true Silver and Black supporters.

“If you are a regular fan and a season ticket holder, you paid way below the reported price for upper deck attendance,” Ancira tweeted. “I feel like that is taking care of your fans. If you just now decided you wanted in … you are late. That’s all. So, you are seeing ‘late’ prices.”

For those who can’t afford to get into the Frost Bank Center on Wednesday — or have already coughed up cash for season tickets — Game 1 against the Knicks will get underway at 7:30 p.m. on ABC. It also will stream services that carry ABC content, including YouTube TV.
