Between courtside appearances, Jumbotron cameos and national TV attention, the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco have become unlikely celebrities during the Spurs’ playoff run.

Now, the San Antonio Zoo is rewarding the fan-favorite nuns with 200 free tickets to share with friends and family.

“When we saw how much joy the Salesian Sisters were bringing to our community, we knew we wanted to do something special for them,” San Antonio Zoo CEO Tim Morrow said in a statement. “They’ve become a symbol of positivity during this incredible Spurs playoff run. We hope these tickets give them another opportunity to bless families throughout San Antonio and create meaningful experiences for the people they serve.”

It’s not the first gift Morrow has stepped up for the Sisters, either.

After seeing a video of the Sisters playing basketball with a worn-out hoop, Morrow and his wife personally donated a brand new one for them to enjoy. However, when Morrow and the Zoo Crew arrived to drop off the hoop, they discovered that another generous donor had already given them one.

Morrow’s hoop was then donated to the St. John Bosco School across the street.

“The Salesian Sisters remind us that kindness, faith, and community can bring people together,” Morrow added. “As the Spurs compete for an NBA championship, we’re proud to celebrate the people who have helped unite our city along the way. We’re hoping their blessings carry us all the way through the Finals. Go Spurs Go!”

Whether the Sisters will once again appear on the Jumbotron remains to be seen. However, Spurs fans can catch Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Frost Bank Center. The game will air on ABC and ESPN and also will be available to stream on Hulu and YouTube TV.
