San Antonio is among the nation’s worst cities for holiday travel, according to a new report from Forbes Advisors

To put a number on it, SA ranked as the sixth-most miserable U.S. city for travel between November and January, pulling in dismal score of 22.2 out of 100.

To get its rankings, Forbes Advisors compared the nation’s 50 largest cities using 10 metrics across four categories, including Travel Costs, Air Travel Experience, City Experience and City Safety.

San Antonio’s poor showing stems from its above-average airport congestion and frequent flight delays and cancellations. Such snags affect an average of 23% of flights at San Antonio International Airport between November and January, according to the study.

Other factors include the city’s average $192 hotel nights and $418 holiday airfare, both slightly above the national mean.

More than 137,000 passengers are expected to traverse through San Antonio International between today and Monday. Even so, there are only 15 delays and no cancellations as of press time. So, here’s hoping we buck the trend this season.

“We continue to ask all travelers to check with their airline before heading to the airport to ensure their flights are not delayed or cancelled,” airport officials told News4SA in a statement.
