Let the road rage commence.

Drivers are likely to face traffic delays this weekend as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) closes all southbound main lanes of I-35 in Northeast San Antonio.

The closure of the busy stretch of interstate from Randolph Boulevard to Fratt Road will begin at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, and continue through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31.

Beyond that, the southbound I-35 frontage road and the eastbound Loop 410 to southbound I-35 flyover will be inaccessible during that time, as will some streets around the closed stretch of I-35.

TxDOT officials said the closure will allow crews to install a steel bridge beam as part of the I-35 Northeast Expansion project.
