
VIA Metropolitan Transit is warning riders of major detours this weekend due to the first installment of the San Antonio Marathon.
A total of 26 routes in and around downtown will experience detours Friday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 7, due to conflicts with various courses and road closures. Routes on Saturday, Dec. 6, will run as usual.
Folks can expect detours between 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday, and again on Sunday from 3 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the following routes:

- Route 7

Organizers expect more than 18,000 runners to participate in the city’s inaugural San Antonio Marathon, including competitors from all 50 states plus 25 countries.
Runners will participate in the SATX 5K by Holiday on Houston Street on Friday, while both a half-marathon and full-length Boston Marathon qualifying race will take place on Sunday.
The San Antonio Marathon replaces the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, which typically occurred in the first week of December.
