Several San Antonio school districts are canceling extracurricular activities Friday and Saturday as winter weather is expected to move through South Texas.

Freezing rain may engulf large swaths of Bexar County beginning as early as 6 p.m. Friday and last through early Saturday morning, according to the Austin/San Antonio National Weather Service. Some parts of Bexar County could see up to 0.03 inches of freezing rain, the report added.

In response to the winter weather, the following San Antonio school districts have canceled or rescheduled extracurricular activities.

Judson Independent School District

  • All Friday afternoon events have been canceled with the exception of a Judson High School boy’s playoff game held in Corpus Christi.

Northside Independent School District

  • All after-school activities Friday are canceled “out of an abundance of caution.”

Northeast Independent School District

  • All Friday afternoon events are canceled or rescheduled. Events scheduled for Saturday morning will be delayed.

San Antonio Independent School District

  • All Friday after-school events have been canceled or rescheduled. Check with coaches tomorrow about scheduling changes for Saturday events.

Southwest Independent School District

  • All soccer games for Friday are canceled. All softball games for Saturday have also been canceled.
