After a two-month hiatus, San Antonio’s Mission Kayak is back in business — and just in time for the summer season.

In March, Mission — which offers kayaking tours of the San Antonio River Walk — suddenly closed, much to customers’ disappointment. Then-owner Sarah Neal blamed the shutdown on rising insurance costs.

However, new Mission Kayak owner David Morin revealed in a statement that the business is back in operation.

Morin sold the company to Neal when he relocated to Austin more than a decade ago. While he’s returned in an ownership position, Neal will remain a managing partner, he said.

Morin told Axios San Antonio he hopes to expand Mission Kayak’s offerings. However, he’ll first need to work out details with the city, Go Rio Cruises and the San Antonio River Authority.

Mission Kayak is now accepting reservations via its website. Its first weekend of operations is slated to get underway this Saturday.
