The owners of Stone Oak’s “Skeleton House” — known for creating humorous scenes with plastic skeletons in the sunup to Halloween — reveled in a Tuesday Facebook post that they won’t be going all-in this season.
The owners said they’ll still display an array of plastic skeletons in the front yard, but due to family commitments, including work, school and hobbies, they’ll undertake less-frequent scene changes.
“This year, we plan to have a few weekend displays, and maybe some fun posts here and there,” the family wrote. “We just won’t be able to maintain the daily displays this year.”
The Skeleton House is the brainchild of self-described “goofball” father Steven Dinote, who began using a family of plastic skeletons to depict humorous scenes during the pandemic.
The house garnered so much attention that the Dinotes launched a Facebook page chronicling the Halloween display. As of press time, the account has more than 5,000 followers, who drop in to see what the skeletons are up to. Typically, the scenes would change daily through October.
Commenters on the latest Facebook post said they’re sad to see the family throttle back the spooky tradition.
“Thank you for all your clever hilarity,” Facebook user Mary Ann Lafferty Haun wrote. “I wish you the very best.”
Meanwhile, other posters, including Chanda Bornemann Williams, wrote that they understand that family obligations come before keeping the neighborhood entertained.
“Wishing you the very best too,” Williams wrote. “Focus on family, and we look forward to the weekend displays that you do put together.”
