The team behind San Antonio retro bar and arcade Be Kind & Rewind has plans to open a spooky tiki bar downtown, MySA reports.
The new drinking spot, Paradise Unknown, is slated to open on Losoya Street next march, Be Kind & Rewind officials told the online news outlet. They added that they’re in the process of completing the design concept.
The bar will feature tropical libations, island scenery, karaoke and an approachable vibe with the motto “all souls are welcome,” the owners also told MySA.
Alex Amaro, one of the planners behind the project, also worked on the concept behind Be Kind & Rewind, which opened in fall of 2022, bringing kitschy VHS-and-pop culture vibes to 115 Alamo Plaza.
When Paradise Unknown makes its debut in the Alamo City, it will be one of just a handful of tiki bars in town, including Hugman’s Oasis on the River Walk and Holy Diver on the St. Mary’s Strip.
Though many tiki establishments interplay camp and horror to some degree, Paradise Unknown seems intent on playing up the spooky side.
