A Southtown bungalow outfitted with myriad artistic touches, including a pair of crimson front-porch pillars resembling lightning bolts, hit the market last week with a $699,000 price tag.
The sales listing calls the four-bedroom, three-bath home a “celebration of creativity, individuality and inspired design” — and that may be underselling just how out-of-the-box it is.
Beyond the eye-catching and one-of-a-kind pillars, the property includes all sorts of eccentric embellishments, including distinctive woodwork along its ceilings, floors inlayed with vinyl record albums, a loft overlooking the open living area and a sleek kitchen island and teardrop-shaped bathtub, both in the same vibrant color as the exterior pillars.
The eclecticism also extends into the master bathroom, which is decorated with Hawaiian lava rock tile and features a carved wooden vanity that resembles a work of modern art. A mural of Italian mosaic tile even decorates the interior of the shower.
Realtor.com indicates this is the fifth time in as many years the current owner has listed the property for sale. It was last on the market in August 2021 and removed five months later.
That track record suggests the “Lightning Bolt House” may not fit the taste of just any homeowner, but there’s no denying the creative spirit behind its wild and wonderful decor.
