Last year’s teacher fair
Spare parts founder Mary Elizabeth Cantu and her crew of interns are sweating all summer to gather and sort art supplies–cleverly disguised as trash–for a big Teacher Fair. There’s still space available for teachers, so Mary sent me the details to publish.
The nonprofit spare parts is offering a FREE materials/supplies fair on
Monday, August 6, 2012 for 100 San Antonio-area PreK-12 grade teachers in ALL content areas.
Event time: 10:00am-1:00pm
Event location: GUADALUPE GALLERY- 723 S.Brazos- San Antonio, 78207
To be eligible attendees must:
1. teach PreK-12 students attending San Antonio schools during the
2012-2013 year.
2. utilize these free supplies & resources in San Antonio schools FREE
OF COST. Explanation: Teachers may not charge PreK-12 students or
their families any fees for using these materials.
3. be an arts or general classroom educator. Teachers in other content
areas may register, too.
4. register by Monday, July 30, 2012.
If you have materials to drop off, the Gallery will be open for donations Wednesday, July 25 and Friday, July 27 from 9:00am-1:00pm.

San Antonio activist and nonprofit veteran Laura Carter believes in enabling the community to work from the heart, not just the wallet. During her time at the San Antonio Area Foundation, Laura implemented new technology, managing website design and content for all published materials. She introduced multimedia and social media into the communications plan, increasing the community’s participation in the Foundation’s programs. She is currently Communications Director at Providence Catholic School helping young women become Leaders, Learners, Women of Faith and Justice.
