South Texas singer-songwriter and Democratic congressional candidate Bobby Pulido will host a hybrid concert-campaign event later this month in the South Texas town of Beeville, joined by luminaries from the two realms he straddles: music and politics.
Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa and U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico will make guest appearances during the gathering, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, at The Grand Dance Hall in the South Texas town of Beeville. Admission is free.
Pulido, a two-time Latin Grammy Winner, will perform at the event. The also will feature a performance by San Antonio cumbia artist Vanita Leo, who’s caught buzz from Rolling Stone and other national publications for her infectious singles and artistic chola aesthetics.
Tejano accordion player Lucky Joe will also perform — as well as Pulido’s father, legendary Tejano artist Roberto Pulido.
Pulido carried on his father’s legacy with his 1995 debut album Desvelado, emerging as a teen heartthrob. His single of the same name climbed to No. 9 on the Billboard Top Latin Album charts.
However, the Texas musician has more recently set his sights on politics. Last September, Pulido announced he would run as a Democrat to represent Texas’s 15th Congressional District as in the 2026 election. He’s challenging Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz.
