The Spurs-aligned Win Together PAC’s tapped Hollywood actress and one-time San Antonio resident Eva Longoria for a last-minute pro-arena social media message.

Clever marketing or a desperate move? Depends on who you ask.

On Thursday, the PAC’s Instagram page posted a clip of Longoria, who’s Spurs legend Tony Parker’s ex-wife, promoting the merits of Prop. B, which, if passed by voters, would raise Bexar County’s visitor tax to 2% to help publicly finance a new NBA arena at Hemisfair for the Spurs.

“The arena will be funded by visitor taxes,” Longoria said in the video. “No property taxes, not sales taxes.”

In reality, the city plans to finance the $1.3 billion arena using a spider web of tools, including a Project Finance Zone (PFZ) and a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ), which use sales and property taxes generated at and around Hemisfair to finance debt.

What’s more, Longoria doesn’t live in San Antonio, or the United States, for that matter. She left the country in 2024 and now splits time between her home’s in Spain and Mexico, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

While Longoria’s Spurs connection is obvious, the Win Together PAC’s aggressive social media marketing over the past two days could indicate troubled waters for the pro-arena campaign, UT-San Antonio political scientist Jon Taylor told the Current.

“Perhaps they’re just being prudent and trying to make a strong last-ditch minute push to win comfortably,” Taylor said. “Or perhaps it’s emblematic of some underlying apprehension that’s causing them to pull out all of the stops to try to eke out a win.”
