San Antonio architect Alan Neff has overseen high-profile jobs ranging from the Blue Star Lofts to Sandra Cisneros’ writing studio. Now, he’s selling one of his most personal projects: the 1900 home he spent years restoring as his family residence.
Located in Denver Heights, east of downtown, the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home recently hit the market for $565,000.
The home features lovingly restored architectural details, a striking stone fireplace and a rustic foyer and stairway taken down to their original wood. However, the property wasn’t much to look at when Neff purchased it in 2007. At the time, it was missing doors, and boards were nailed over the windows.
“I didn’t want to restore the house’s historical integrity by buying any old stuff off the shelf at Home Depot or Lowe’s,” Neff said of his painstaking restoration work, which involved hunting down unusual and period-appropriate materials.
Neff is selling the residence so he and his family can move into a nearby home with a larger lot appropriate for his kids’ play and raising backyard chickens.
This home is listed by Analiza Alvarado with Keller Williams Legacy.
