Sala Diaz is almost always a good bet for an art experience with a touch of the unusual, so the Current recommends you check out a screening there on the 18th of the early psychedelic works of experimental filmmaker Ken Adams. There will be a trio of videos: Alien Dreamtime, a ravey docu-trip about ethnobotanist/semi-rapper Terence McKenna; Strange Attractor, a “relentless mutating ingression of audio and visual imagery” simulating hallucinogenic mind-states, and Imaginary Muslims & Other Perfect Strangers. In case it all gets to be too heavy a scene, Sala Diaz assures us that “lounge comfort” will be provided. 7pm, Sala Diaz, 517 Stieren, (210) 852-4492.
This article appears in Nov 12-18, 2008.
