USA Today has nominated San Antonio’s Six Flags Fiesta Texas for its annual ranking of the nation’s best amusement parks, according to park officials.

The national newspaper selected 20 top-notch parks across the country for its latest 10 Best Amusement Park rankings, which are ultimately decided by reader votes. Fiesta Texas, which opened the nation’s largest DC Universe earlier this month, is the only Six Flags-branded park among the nominees.

USA Today also included Fiesta Texas’ Hurricane Harbor San Antonio water park and Thunder Rapids ride in its list of nominees for Best Outdoor Water Park and Best Water Coaster.

“Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Hurricane Harbor San Antonio are more than just popular attractions — they are part of what makes San Antonio special,” the park said in a statement. “From family memories made on thrilling rides to being the first job for many local teens, these parks have played a central role in the community for years.”

Fans of Fiesta Texas can vote on the USA Today rankings once daily through 11 a.m. CST via the paper’s website.

The park may need all the votes it can get to compete with high-profile nominees including Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios Florida and Dollywood.
