VIA Metropolitan Transit is offering free rides to the 45th Annual Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, which will is taking place this Thursday at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

The complimentary ride is available from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. VIA bus, VIA Link, and VIAtrans routes on Thanksgiving. All passengers need to do is tell the driver they’re attending the Jimenez dinner when they get on board.

The annual dinner was started in 1979 by Mexican restaurant mogul Raul Jimenez, who founded the event because he believed no senior citizen should go without a turkey on Thanksgiving. Since then, the gathering has grown into a San Antonio tradition, serving an estimated 25,000 meals annually, according to the Express-News.

Those wanting to attend the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner need only to show up. No RSVP is required.
