San Antonio has a wealth of highly praised restaurants, which is only bound to increase with the eyes of Michelin upon us. But the beautiful thing about being an increasingly recognized food mecca, is that plenty of our lesser-known restaurants are absolutely bangin’ too.
San Antonio’s food scene is an embarrassment of gluttonous riches, which perhaps is why our waistbands continue to expand like a CPS Energy bill.
That said, let’s take a look at up some hidden Alamo City gems — restaurants that quietly produce great food even if they don’t attract a whole lot of attention.
On a more somber note, this exercise becomes even more important in a tough economic environment producing a seemingly unending string of restaurant closures. It’s time to shout it from the rooftops and stop gatekeeping our favorite hole-in-the-wall taquerias and Italian ristorantes.
Tuck in a bib and dig in.
