No stranger to wildly contradictory political stances, Sen. Ted Cruz staked yet another one on Wednesday — this time involving body autonomy.
On Twitter, the Texas' fully vaccinated junior senator heaped praise on male NBA players who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID-19, saying he stood with anti-vax players Kyrie Irving, Bradley Beal and others. He stamped his tweet with the hashtag #YourBodyYourChoice just to let us know he meant it.
Yet, that same day, the Republican defended his home state's restrictive new abortion law, which bans women from seeing the procedure before most are even aware they're pregnant. Let's roll the tape.
“What this is really about is trying to demonize Texas and trying to demagogue on the question of life,” Cruz said at the hearing. “Texas made a perfectly reasonable decision to protect life."
2/x I’ve never said this before: I agree with @KingJames

“We’re talking about people’s bodies and well-being. I don’t think I personally should get involved in what other people should do for their bodies and livelihoods.”
So, let's get this straight. In Cruzland, men get to choose what they do with their bodies, while women should just shut up and let the Texas Legislature, which is roughly three-quarters male, dictate their healthcare choices?
Little surprise that Twitter users seized on the hypocrisy, blasting Cruz for trumpeting those old GOP rhetorical standbys of freedom and personal responsibility while telling people with lady parts that they don't qualify for either.
DOES YOUR HASHTAG APPLY TO THE MILLIONS OF WOMEN IN TEXAS OR NAH?!

You don’t actually stand with any of these men, it’s just convenient for you to act like you do in this instance.
Motherfucker, thousands of people died in your state from Rona, you and your family are vaccinated, you took away women’s rights on their body in Texas, and fuck you.

Except if you’re a woman, especially except if you’re in Texas…
Right, @tedcruz, you contemptible jackass? pic.twitter.com/0yGxeH0lmi
Others pointed out another contradiction in Cruz's take on unvaccinated NBA players. And that is before now, a hefty share of the senator's Twitter farts about the league have involved him telling athletes who take a knee for Black Lives Matter that they're unpatriotic and un-American.
Sen. Ted Cruz: athletes who refuse to stand for a piece of cloth are scum of the earth; athletes who refuse to get vaccinated and protect their communities are godly creatures.

Cruz is human trash. pic.twitter.com/BIdn8AJ13B
Which brings us to the tweet that at this point may end up being the most fitting political epitaph for Cruz in the eventuality that Texans finally vote his ass out of office.
Ted Cruz is just a taxpayer funded internet troll at this point.
