This 2005 San Antonio home was modeled after the Spanish-revival style of the 1920s

Thanks to its exquisite Spanish colonial-revival architecture, a Terrell Hills home recently listed for just under $2.5 million looks like it was constructed during the gilded age of San Antonio architecture. However, despite its time-capsule appearance, the property was actually built in 2005.

The two-story estate was custom-created for a client eager to recreate the grand style of the old mansions that proliferated around the Alamo City in the early 20th Century, according to listing agent Lynn A. Boyd III.

"Most people think it's an old home," Boyd said. "They don't recognize it as something built in 2005."

In addition to its stucco exterior, tile roof and soaring archways, the 5,000-square-foot home includes a dramatic spiral staircase that winds its way up the cylindrical foyer with no visible means of support. Boyd described its floating appearance as an "engineering marvel."
