It's official: the hurricane plummeting toward the Texas coast is now a Category 3 storm.

To put that in context, Hurricane Ike was a Category 2 when it hit Galveston in 2008, Hurricane Katrina peaked at a Category 5 while sweeping through coastal Louisiana in 2005, and Hurricane Sandy peaked at Category 3 on the New England coast in 2012. This ranking, officially called the Saffir–Simpson hurricane wind scale, tops at Category 5.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Harvey's winds are now at 120 mph. Corpus Christi winds are at 57 mph.
