Freshman U.S. Rep. Chip Roy of San Antonio may want to leave the acting to the professionals. Because his performance during a recent hearing on drug prices isn't exactly pulling rave reviews.

The magazine Elle took a lengthy sideswipe at the San Antonio Republican for launching into a sour-faced, hand-waving tirade after a Democratic colleague questioned a drug company executive about his multi-million-dollar salary.

Elle writer R. Eric Thomas describes Roy's meltdown as a "thing of dystopian beauty" and likens it to Scrooge McDuck "quacking furiously and banging his little hand-wings on the table while gold doubloons spill out of his pockets at a truly alarming rate."

It's easy to see how Thomas could draw the comparison.

During the two-minute outburst, Roy lambasts his fellow lawmakers for questioning Big Pharma's profit taking, claiming that their queries are an all-out assault on the free market itself. (Cue the "Star Spangled Banner.")

"I'm really glad they [make big profits]! And I hope they make a lot more!" Roy chided his colleagues before pounding the desk for emphasis. "But to sit here an attack the capitalistic system that produces and distributes medicine that is saving lives around the world? I mean it is just offensive!"

If you want to see Roy's dramatic breakthrough, someone was lucky enough to share it on Twitter. Just keep the tissue box handy.
