San Antonio-based Whataburger will debut a tribute to loyal diners in the form of a digital fan-art museum pop-up during Austin’s SXSW Festival.

An online staple for fans since 2021, the Whataburger Museum of Art’s real-life debut will take over Austin’s Wanderlust Wine Co., 610 N. Interstate Highway 35, from
11 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9. Over the years, the online feature has become a haven for fans of the South Texas burger institution to commemorate their love for the brand through artwork.

The museum pop-up is open both to the public and badge-holders for SXSW, a massive music and media festival that draws around 300,000 people to Austin every March.

Whataburger’s SXSW experience will include a diner mugshot wall (a cheeky nod to guests stealing Whataburger’s famous table tents), 3D art and digital displays and an interactive room where guests can decorate a restaurant space with themed stickers. Guests also will be able to take home an exclusive Whataburger 75th Anniversary + SXSW 2025 Table Tent.

On Saturday, March 9, a Whataburger food truck will be onsite, offering a sample of the chain’s Monterey Melt, which is back on menus for a limited time only.

Whataburger may be celebrating its 75th anniversary, but it’s clearly not gotten stodgy when it comes to promoting itself.
