Lisa Wong, the owner of Rosario’s and Ácenar, has closed the door on plans to create a mixed-use development in one of downtown’s oldest buildings, according to the San Antonio Report.
Wong acquired the three-story structure at 114 E. Main Plaza in 2019 with plans for a $4 million development that would have included retail on the ground floor and apartments above, the online news site reports. The property faces San Fernando Cathedral, one of downtown’s most visible landmarks.
The restaurateur delayed the project in late 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic threw development into uncertainty. Now, four years later, the 7,500-square-foot building’s back on the sales block according to the San Antonio Report.
Even though Wong secured nearly $2.6 million in public funding and tax credits for the project, she doesn’t have time focus on its development, Alan Valadez, a broker with listing agent Kuper Sotheby’s told the San Antonio Report.
Originally built in 1742, the building was called Casa Reales and served as the seat of government in the 1800s, according to the San Antonio Report. A rebuild of the structure was completed in 1877.
