A new study has ranked airports with the highest percentage of travel delays in 2024, and the numbers don’t bode well for San Antonians with holiday travel plans.

San Antonio International Airport ranks sixth nationally for delayed flights, according to the study released by InsureMyTrip. Indeed, 25.30% of San Antonio flights were delayed this year.

Just five airports had worse percentage rates, and two were in Texas. Austin-Bergstrom came in at No. 5 on the list, with a percentage of flight delays slightly worse than SA’s. The Metroplex’s DFW Airport also made the list, coming in at No. 3.

San Francisco International topped the list for the worst percentage of delays, followed by Luis Muñoz Marín International in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

No Texas cities made it onto the study’s accompanying list of airports with the lowest percentage of delays. These coveted spots were claimed by the likes of Hawaii; Washington, D.C.; and Salt Lake City.
