Tacos on the Street, which launched in 1993 in the coastal city of Nuevo Vallarta, will make its U.S. debut next month with the opening of a location near Stone Oak. The business has taken over the space at 22026 US Highway 281 #101 that previously housed shuttered vegan eatery Plantology.
Known for charcoal-fired meats, handmade tortillas and ice-cold margaritas, Tacos on the Street is moving ahead on a long-planned U.S. expansion that’s starting in San Antonio, officials told the Current in an email. The owners still operate just a single location in Mexico.
The new Tacos on the Street near TPC Parkway still appeared to be under construction during a visit Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to the aforementioned Tex-Mex inspired entrees familiar to San Antonio residents, Tacos on the Street offers dessert options including cheesecake and flan. The San Antonio store also will serve select flavors from Van Leeuwen ice cream and Jarritos sodas.
