If you like your music heavy, noisy and marinating in weird, then today’s your lucky day.
Mere moments after an announcement that the Melvins are heading to SA this fall, we got word that Japan’s Boris will put in an appearance as well. The Tokyo-based trio is booked for Thursday, August 22, at Paper Tiger.
Boris, in case you’re unfamiliar, is named for a tune by the aforementioned Melvins and walks a fine line between droning metal and boundary-stretching experimental music. Over the course of 20-plus albums, it’s been lauded by the press, composed an avant-metal soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s film The Limits of Control and collaborated with artists ranging from Sunn O))) to the Cult’s Ian Astbury.
In other words, don’t come with any expectations other than to have your narrow ear holes drilled further open.
