San Antonio coffee truck Café La Lele is taking over Folklores Coffee’s recently shuttered Beacon Hill location to set up its first brick-and-mortar shop.
Café La Lele’s owners shared their plans in a Monday Instagram post showing a photo of their new digs at shopfront at 106 Michigan Ave.
“Some of you may recognize this space as the former home of the @folklores_coffee_house and we’re so honored to have the opportunity to bring new life to this beautiful, historic building,” the post said.
“Our goal is not just to open another coffee shop, but to become part of the neighborhood, celebrate the character of this historic space, and create somewhere that feels warm, welcoming, and truly special,” the owners added.
The property didn’t sit empty for long.
Folklores owners Joel “Tatu” Herrera and Emilie Herrera closed their Beacon Hill location at the beginning of September after a two-year run. The couple’s original Government Hill location is still open, though.
In their Instagram post, Café La Lele’s owners said they are working with San Antonio visual artist Marcy Rossi, who created the cute paint job for their trailer, to “thoughtfully transition the space while honoring its history and bringing the building back to its former glory with a little Café La Lele magic.”
