A Mid-Century Modern home nestled in 2.15 acres of mature oak trees in Northwest San Antonio’s Oakland Estates area recently hit the market, and it’s a time capsule from the Atomic era.
Not much has changed in this two-bedroom, two-bath home since it was built in 1963. It features mahogany-paneled walls and terrazzo tile floors throughout, and keeping with the Mid-Century style, the ceilings are vaulted at asymmetrical angles. Beams and interior sliver windows add further architectural interest.
The kitchen looks like Jane Jetson picked out every detail herself, including a boldly shaped oven hood, which is echoed in the shape of the fireplace flue separating the kitchen from the living room. The kitchen also features an enviable wall of windows, which bathes the space in natural light.
The 1,958-square-foot-residence could use some TLC, including full renovations for both of its bathrooms, said Jeff Bradley, the property’s listing agent. “It needed someone with vision,” he added.
Because of the needed updates, the house was priced to sell at $585,000, and it worked. The dwelling is under contract after only being listed for 15 days.
This home is listed by Jeff Bradley with Patriot Realty.
