On Saturday, San Antonio activists took part in a statewide day of action protesting Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s anti-immigrant agenda.
Last month, Abbott threatened to withhold $200 million in funding from Austin, Dallas and Houston for passing policies that limit police cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The cities passed those measures in response to Republican-backed state laws which give the state unprecedented immigration enforcement powers.
Here’s what we saw as protesters gathered in front of City Hall and marched through downtown to push back against Abbott’s escalating war on immigrants.
