San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama will appear on the cover of NBA 2K27 Standard Edition, marking the first time the popular video game series has featured a Spurs player.
NBA 2K, which has sold more than 150 million copies worldwide since its 1999 launch, is widely considered the premier basketball simulation game and has featured some of the sport’s biggest stars on its covers.
According to details unveiled Wednesday by the game’s developer, Wemby will join Indiana Fever guard Caitlyn Clark, who graces the NBA 2K27 Deluxe Edition, and Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose, who will appear on the NBA 2K27 Limited Edition Ultra Version. All three cover athletes were No. 1 overall draft picks and Rookie of the Year winners.
”When you’re truly obsessed with basketball, the game doesn’t stop when you leave the arena,” Wembanyama said in a statement. “NBA 2K is the court that never locks up; it’s always open, whether you’re in Paris or San Antonio. It’s how you study the game, sharpen your IQ, and live basketball 24/7. To be the face of a game that fuels that hunger for hoops and whose covers immortalize the all-time greats, that’s a dream come true for me.”
