Calling all anglers.
Brackenridge Park’s fifth annual Fall Family Fishing Day, scheduled for this Saturday, invites families for a morning of casting and reeling along the San Antonio River. The free event includes fishing lessons with the Fin Addict Angler Foundation.
The gathering will take place from 9 a.m.-noon at Brackenridge’s Joske Pavilion. Pre-registration is open now on the Fin Addict website .
The event will feature hands-on fishing lessons from Fin Addict, whose members will teach participants how to casting, reeling and other fishing basics. The nonprofit promotes fishing education and outdoor ethics.
No fishing license is required to participate, courtesy of Texas Parks and Wildlife. However, families are encouraged to bring their own rods and bait or make a $10 contribution to borrow equipment from Fin Addict.
Texas Parks and Wildlife will stock the river with more than 600 fish in preparation for the event, meaning everyone is likely to catch a fish. Those under the age of 16 will be eligible for prizes for the first fish caught and the largest.
