The City of San Antonio is inviting fans to cheer on the Spurs at the Espee in St. Paul Square, 1174 E. Commerce St., for the team’s critical Game 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
The watch party, which the city is staging in collaboration with ATG Entertainment and Velocity TX, will get underway at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. The outdoor event will proceed rain or shine.
“We are so excited to keep up this momentum in Downtown San Antonio,” Chief Downtown Officer Shea Miller said in a statement. “Thank you to our incredible partners and collaborators who continue to step up for our city and team. Let’s show Oklahoma City what San Antonio is all about.”
The new watch party destination offers an downtown and near East Side alternative to official watch parties for the game being held at the Rock at La Cantera and the Frost Bank Center.
Fans at the Espee watch party are encouraged to bring chairs and wear silver-and-black Spurs attire. The first 50 guests will receive an exclusive Spurs playoff giveaway.
Outside food, confetti, coolers and ice chests are prohibited. Concessions will be available, and payment is by credit card only.
A variety of parking lots are located within walking distance of the venue, including the Baldwin Garage, Ellis Alley Park & Ride Lot and the St. Paul Square lots on Commerce Street and Center Street.
