Contemporary Whatever’s monthly experimental performances continue at FL!GHT with two out-of-this-world women.
Self-proclaimed “seductive siren and nihilist hysteric” Samantha Riott is well known in New York City for her brash spoken-word performances and prolific collaborations with local experimental musicians, most recently out-jazz band Rodenticide. Her solo album, Bloodletting, drops this month.
Texan multi-instrumentalist Sarah Ruth treks all over the nation with her hammered dulcimer and harmonium, performing extended vocal techniques interwoven with electroacoustic sound art in layered ambient pieces that reflect her time working with Meredith Monk.
Freetail is picking up the tab for the evening, so you can enjoy a complimentary brewski as you bathe in the soundscape.
Free, Tue Jan. 8, 7pm, FL!GHT Gallery, 112 Blue Star, (210) 872-2586, facebook.com/flightsa.
